The adoption of clean cooking in schools is poised to change the face of schools. A switch to #LPG means reducing respiratory diseases and environmental conservation.
⚡️ Litein Girls High School led by the School Principal, Ms Sogomo embraced the use of #cleanenergy for cooking after being challenged by the CEO of Equity Bank Limited Mr James Mwangi.
🌲Ms Sogomo said the school now saves Sh600,000 yearly as a result of the shift from conventional #fuel to #greenenergy.

🌲“The school used to spend Sh1.9 Million yearly on Wood fuel, but we now use Sh1.3 Million following the switch-over”.-Financial Savings with LPG

🌲Already there are over 79 schools that have converted to #cleancooking and the ambitious program is targeting a total of 30,000 in the effort to reduce #greenhousegasemissions.
At the same time, the bank is running a program for rehabilitating the school environments in partnership with Kenya Forest Services.
🌲The switch to #cleancooking will greatly change the school operations with an expected cost savings of between 25-40%, especially for cooking and #heating boilers.
